The Shining (1980) is a horror film from 1980 directed by Stanley Kubrick. The story is based on a bestseller by Stephen King. King himself was not excited about this adaptation especially since the storyline especially at the end is quite different from that in the book. The Shining was nominated for four Awards. The film however was also nominated for Awards for worst director and worst actress (Shelley Duvall).
